It’s a proud day for the women of Belize as the 20,000 Strong Women's Empowerment Rally was a huge success! Thousands of women from across the country came out to the Memorial Park and joined the parade to the rally grounds at the Marion Jones Stadium.
Women from various backgrounds and professions shared stories of their struggles and their road to success, sending home the message that with the support of each other women can continue to positively transform our society. Today, women from across this nation united for a common cause and celebrated their collective accomplishments and journey towards increased leadership for development. But more importantly, the women have set a positive tone for women’s empowerment in Belize. We can all make valuable contributions in every aspect of development in this nation.
The Special Envoy for Women and Children, Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow, would like to thank the National Women’s Commission for collaborating on this project, the Oak Foundation and a number of private sector partners for sponsoring the event, the women of the planning committee who guided the process, and the women of Belize who came out in such large numbers. We are now poised to move forward with plans to provide opportunities for women to uplift themselves and by extension their families, communities and the country as a whole. We will be counting on your continued interest and support.
