Office of the Special Envoy Launches 2017 Inspiration Calendar and Agenda
December 3, 2016
This morning the office of the Special Envoy for Women and Children launched the 2017 Inspiration Calendar and Agenda at The Inspiration Center. The calendar features artwork from children with disabilities from across the country who are clients of the center.
Chairperson on the board of directors at The Inspiration Center and Special Envoy for Women and Children, Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow, opened the ceremony where she spoke about inclusion, the services offered by The Inspiration Center, and using art as an avenue to “break glass ceilings” and spark imagination and creativity in children.
The fruition of the Inspiration Calendar and Agenda is a collective effort between the Special Envoy’s office, McNab and Visual Strategies. Aside from showcasing the talent of Belize’s youth, and empowering others who may be facing a similar situation, the calendar serves as an advocacy tool to promote inclusion and reduce the stigma and discrimination of persons with disabilities. Parent of a child with a disability, Ms. Marisela Craig, was the guest speaker at today’s event. During her remarks, she reminded parents to celebrate the child they have and spoke of The Inspiration Center as a place of hope for children with disabilities and their families.
Ms. Tanya McNab, creative director and founder of Mcnab Visual Strategies presented Mrs. Barrow with a cheque for $20,000.00Bz. Proceeds from the sale of the agendas will go directly toward the sustainability of the Center.
The Special Envoy and McNab Visual Strategies would like thank all those organizations, businesses, ministries and individuals who purchased the agendas. Persons interested in purchasing agendas can contact McNab Designs at 223-1025. They are $57.00Bz each. Each child featured in the calendar went home with a signed copy and a small gift.
